MONMOUTH, Ill. – It was business as usual last week for Monmouth College swimmer Gabe Baginski (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) who earned the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week for the second time in two weeks.

Baginski earned first place finishes in three of his four events last weekend against Valparaiso. The sopho­more turned in a career-best to win the 1000-yard freestyle. His time of 10:21.03 ranks as the second-fastest time in the conference. He also touched first in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 5:00.40, less than two seconds off his season best. Baginski wrapped up the meet swimming the leadoff leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay. The quartet logged a 1:33.40. He had opened the meet with the leadoff leg of the runner up 200 medley relay which swam a 1:44.93.

A math major, Baginski is the son of Stanley and Caroline Baginski of Aurora.
