Monmouth cooled Ripon’s hot first half shooting as the Fighting Scots came from 11 down to clip the Red Hawks 70-61. Ripon shot nearly 70 percent from the floor in the first half, but Monmouth’s defense came to play in the second 20 minutes, holding Ripon to just 5-of-22 shooting after the break. Haley Jones’ bucket early in the second half started a 13-0 Monmouth run as Marla Willard and Zipporah Williams combined for nine points in three minutes. The Scots took the lead on a Willard jumper 14:21 left and never looked back. Willard and Williams each collected a double-double. Willard scored 14 points with 12 rebounds and Williams added 13 points with 11 boards. Jones finished with 15 points.
