Coming off a berth in the IHSA Class 1A state quarterfinals in 2009, the United Red Storm look to turn that success over to the 2010 season. Success is the one word that would describe the football program at the Warren County school under the guidance of head coach Tim Engebretson. He has guided the United Red Storm/Warren Warriors to the playoffs in 16 of his 17 seasons at the helm.

The Red Storm are looking to reload this season, and will be limited with varsity experience. "We will be very young, but I really like the character of this team," Engebretson said. Don't be fooled by his size, Geoffrey Hahn (5'5" 150 Jr. RB) is among the team leaders back for the Red Storm. Hahn rushed for 779 yards as a sophomore. The United backfield returns over 1,000 yards, with Nick Hull (6'1" 175 Sr. RB) also back in the fold, after running for 250 yards last year.

Mixing it up offensively, the Red Storm did take it to the air, on occasion, a rarity in the history of the program under Engretson. Josh Winston (6'5" 195 Sr. TE) logged 166 yards receiving. United will be seeking out a new Quarterback, with the graduation of Zach Steele. Just one starting lineman returns up front, Logan Douglas (5'9" 230 Jr. G).

On defense, United will bring back four starters. Nick Hull will be in the secondary, along with Josh Winston. Hull tallied 40 tackles last year. Christian Schrader (5'10" 175 Jr.) will be at Linebacker, coming off a season with 52 tackles, along with Michael Galusha (6'1" 230 Jr.), who had 35 tackles as a sophomore.

Newcomers that will vye for time are; Nick Cavanaugh (6'1" 205 Sr.), Nate Dutton (6'3" 270 Sr.), Cody Battin (6'0" 170 Sr.), Jonah Armstrong (5'10" 175 Jr.), Eric Nichol (6'0" 210 Jr.), Danton McMullin (6'2" 215 So.), James Brownlee (6'1" 210 Jr.), Sully Frick (5'11" 170 Jr.), and Jesse Kenney (6'0" 180 Jr.).

United will be switching back to the Lincoln Trail Conference in football. The LTC evaporated as a football conference, when the West Prairie Trail mega-conference formed in 2006. The Red Storm will still have some battles with former Northwest division opponents from the WPT, including Stark County and Mercer County. "Stark County returns a great deal of skilled players," Engretson said. Other members of the Lincoln Trail are; Annawan/Wethersfield, Ridgewood, Mid-County, River Valley, West Prairie, (Biggsville) West Central, and Princeville.

Tim Engebretson has a (142-48) record as head coach at United and the former Monmouth Warren (now a part of United). He led the Red Storm to a Class 1A state championship in 2004, the first year of the school's existence.
