Postal Service Reports Huge Quarterly Loss (Metro Source 2/10/12) -- The U.S. Postal Service is announcing a huge quarterly loss. The agency says it lost three-point-three-billion dollars in the last quarter of 2011. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe says the postal service will be out of money by fall if changes to its operations aren't approved soon. The service wants the okay from Congress to trim facilities and payroll. Cuts of 220-thousand jobs have been requested. The agency also wants to close more than ten percent of its post offices. The Postal Service doesn't get funding from U.S. taxpayers.
