New Monmouth Police Chief announced

The City of Monmouth is pleased to announce the hiring of Chief WIlliam (Bill) Feither for the position of Chief of Police. Cheif Feithen has extensive experience in municipal government, financial management, supervision, administration, project management, personnel development, labor relations and negotiations, planning and community relations. Feithen began his career as a patrol officer in 1975, transferring to the Juvenile/Community Relations position in 1982. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 1989, transferring to the Administrative division in 1994. In 1998, he became Lieutenant of the Administrative Division where he served  until becoming Chief of Police in 2000. He graduated from Northwestern University Traffic Institute Supervision of  Police Personnel in 1998 and then from the FBI National Academy , 167th Session in 1991. The City of Monmouth worked in coordination with the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police to identify the best, most qualified individuals for this position. Chief Feithen was the unanimous recommendation from the ILACP and the three Chiefs involved in the assessment process. Chief Feithen will officially begin his duties on February 27, 2012 after relocating to Monmouth. Monmouth Police Lt. Joe Switizer has been promoted to Deputy Police Chief.
