Dugan joins staff

at Monmouth College

MONMOUTH, Ill. — Marnie Dugan, a 1995 graduate of Monmouth College, has been hired by her alma mater as assistant director of external relations. She will begin her new position on Feb. 6.

Working with the college’s associate dean of students and director of alumni engagement, Dugan will develop and implement a comprehensive student and alumni engagement program designed to provide mentoring opportunities for students and to reconnect and integrate alumni with Monmouth College.

“We are excited about this new position,” said associate dean of students Michelle Merritt. “Marnie will focus on programming that reaches, serves and engages students and alumni, such as our successful Scots Connection career and leadership conferences.”

Lucy Thompson, director of alumni engagement, agreed that new opportunities will stem from Dugan’s new position.

“Marnie will be in charge of the types of programs that build pride, strengthen involvement and increase the time and resources our alumni give back to Monmouth College,” she said.

Among other duties, Dugan will be involved in all initiatives pertaining to internships and service, and she will oversee the college’s Distinguished Alumni Visitors Program.

A resident of Avon, Dugan comes to Monmouth after more than 14 years of service at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, where she most recently served as director of recruitment. In that position, she helped increase the conversion rate of new student applicants by 4 percent in the last two years while also helping increase retention.
