Confusion continues at the intersection of Boston and Main near the Public Square in Monmouth. Wednesday the Monmouth Police Department removed signs from the middle of Main St. that they thought might be contributing to the confusion. Vehicles on Main St. must yield for pedestrians, but otherwise are not required to stop at the intersection any longer. East-West traffic on Boston continues to be governed with a stop sign. Monmouth Assistant Police Chief Joe Switzer said driving defensively is the key to safety


Switzer said citizen safety is the driving force behind the changes and public education effort regarding the Boston and Main St. intersection.
