A Roseville man is facing weapons charges after being arrested late last week in Galesburg for having a loaded gun in his car. 23-year old Donald M. Hawkins was arrested Friday morning in the 1000 block of North Henderson Street in a parking lot. The police report indicated that Hawkins consented to the search of his vehicle. Galesburg police say they conducted the traffic stop after they received a call in regard to a possible drunk driver. Hawkins told police that he had been drinking, but not for awhile at the time of the stop. He also told police that he did not have any open alcohol in the vehicle and consented to a search. While conducting the search, police found a handgun that was lying in the back seat and found that it was loaded with a magazine, but no round was chambered.
