One day after the Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th District was in Galesburg, the Democratic incumbent will be town today. Bobby Schilling held a town hall style meeting at Lake Storey in Galesburg Tuesday afternoon. Congressman Phil Hare is expected to unveil his first campaign commercial today during a press conference in Galesburg at 2:30 this afternoon at Steelworkers Hall. The ad, which is entitled “Sick and Tired,” will run in the Quad Cities media market. It talks about Hare’s commitment to forging a new direction on trade and protecting manufacturing in West-Central Illinois. It draws a contrast with his Republican opponent Bobby Schilling who supports an unfair trade agreement with South Korea and has signed a pledge to protect tax loopholes that encourage corporations to ship American jobs overseas.
